Determining the Density of Carbon Dioxide
Introduction
The goal of this lab is finding the density of carbon dioxide, which is produced when chemical properties change between liquid and gas, such as putting effervescent tablets into water causing it to release gas. The intensive property, density, will be found which does not change depending on how much CO2 we produce.
Methods & Materials
Our experiment to calculate the density of carbon dioxide. So to find the carbon dioxide is to find the mass and volume and find percent error. First to fined the density of the gas we weighed the balloon empty no air no gas this is when the balloon is filled with the gas and wade it again to see if the balloon is heavier with the gas By filling an Erlenmeyer flask up to 250ml of water so that there is no air between the stopper with the balloon at the end of the rubber tube dropping an effervescent tablets into weigh of the balloon only thing to do after that is to fine the water displacement.
We had to use safety goggles because this is not dangerous at all!
Results
The water was problem and it kept the gas going in to the balloon after the third tablet we realized the gas pushes the air to the balloon. After that we finished the dioxide wade more then air. The density collated after the water was wade and it made the wait more then we could expect.
