3/5/14 Today was the first day of my link internship and we are actually going to a Nachitas school to give a speech on dogsledding and the Iditarod to fifth and fourth graders. I learned that during the dog ranch actually does a lot of advertising schools and to the community they don't only provide dogs and they also provide knowledge to schools such as this one to give them an idea what it's like to dogsled and what it takes to be able to race and on the business like this today I worked with that and he's one of the feed guides and he really helped me become comfortable with the dogs and this is my like actual first time to spend it work with them and it really got me to taught me all the things I need to know to like set up a slide and I know that I don't have it down but it's really going to help me learn in order to become a dogs guide and today my job wants to help Matt and answering questions the kids and bringing out dog and water so that it's easier for Matthew actually just talk to kids and explain what we do and how to set up the sled and I am feeling really excited to work with him.
3/6/14 Today's my first day I'll be working out at Purgatory and I'll be actually working with the dogs and spending actual time working around the slides and today. I learned how to guide and what it all takes also all the gear that we needed to actually go out and see the trails with the guides and what's the business process like what the guys have to sign and what are the risks of taking guys out and I'm starting to learn the dogs names also I can starting to understand what is the actual like today I am working with Matt and Katniss they're both really good people and I am looking forward to starting my link internship with them they've been very patient teaching me what I need to know to take people out and they've been explaining what android takes to be a guide girls all got to be a hard worker but you have to understand what Greg and Gretchen go through to support the business and how much they rely on the guides. Tomorrow I am looking forward to actually lead with Matt and myself and take out all the equipment that we need to and set out water bowls for the dogs because it's all the routine is like clockwork so I just needed it all down and then I can actually start to work really hard.
3/7/14Today I am working with Matt and Sarah one of the more season guides she's been guiding for six years and I really said work with her she seems knowledgeable about the dogs. I am starting to learn the safety speech that we are doing and how basically you explain how to be safe on the trail and had to use weight distribution to help the guides and it's for the clients just not knowledge about dogsledding and what we do to keep you safe on the trail and how the dogs perform their everyday work and my goal for tomorrow is to ride a sled with Matt just him and me no clients with us and the sled so I can learn how to use a weight distribution and what the trails like and how much the dogs intervene with each other how to actually set up a team of my own.
