link project proposel
Cole Hawkins
I am interning at Durango Dog Ranch
The type of work done at this business is providing dog sled rides for tourists. Their mission is to provide a unique experience for locals and tourists and to educate people regarding dog sledding and canine camaraderie. Their role in the community is to expose people to the outdoors and our beautiful area.
My mentor is Gregg Dubit. Gregg is the owner and dog sled manager. He organizes the sled rides, guides and takes care of the dogs. I hope Gregg can teach me about what it takes to run a business involving animals. I want to learn about the whole package including handling customers, managing funds, and the pros and cons in a business that relies on seasons and tourists.
My personal and career goals relate to my LINK internship because I want to have a business that’s outside. I want to learn what it takes to have a business that relies on the varied factors of animals and weather. I want learn what the challenges are and how I can overcome them. I want to learn how much of a profit this type can actually make. I really would like to own a businesses similar to this and hopefully hold it as a career
I want to help Durango Dog Ranch and support its business. Hopefully I can be a help in making their season better and learn how the business actually works. I would like to contribute to and support what they are contributing to this community. It is a local business that provides something unique and supports the local economy. This business provides education about the relationship between animals and people. This is important to me because I have a strong bond with animals and I respect how much they love their job. I want to be a part of that.
I currently have experience driving the sleds and taking care of the animals. I would like to improve in these areas but also learn more about the actual working of the business and it’s challenges.
The steps I will need to take to complete this project in a timely manner are being consistent in being reliable. I will need to work hard and learn as much as I can. I will manage my time so that I will be able to focus on bringing together all the aspects of what I learned into a concrete exhibition.
One obstacle to my project is the lack of snow. This could hinder my ability to perform as many rides as I need. I have not had any difficulties with scheduling or anything like that. I feel confident in my ability to complete this project.
I feel strong in my LINK internship. The only emotions I'm feeling is doubt about the lack of snow and how it may play into my link internship . I am actually feeling pretty good and I cannot wait to start working. My mentor and his family seem like really good people and I cannot wait to start working with them. I love being outside and working with animals. I am anxious to do a good job for them and hope for a good outcome.
